I volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV. I was based in the ICU unit, where I would help deliver meals and other simple tasks. Sometimes, management would need me to help visitors find patients (through the hospital’s digital patient database), answer phone calls, and resolve any simple questions.

I have also tutored elementary-age children at the Ewing Branch Library in New Jersey, and at one local elementary school in Trenton. Explaining and talking through the concepts that the students found confusing also made me think in different ways about familiar concepts. On the other end of the spectrum, I volunteered at the Mercer County Senior Center to help the elderly with simple computer questions. Although their questions were very easy for me to answer, this experience gave me perspective on the impact of growing up around technology.
