Zachary Pope

My name is Zachary Aaron Pope. I was born in raised in the small town of Mechanicsburg, OH and lived there all my life. When I’m not attending college, that is still my home. I attended Mechanicsburg Schools for all of my life. During my time in High School, I was able to participate in many activities outside of my classes such as: Cross Country, Band, Track and Field, National Honor Society, Class Treasurer, and academic team. ¬†I graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 2013, salutatorian of my class with a 4.35 GPA, out of a class of 82 students. I was one of many of my fellow graduates that decided to go to college, but the only one who picked to go to Marietta College.

I am currently a freshman attending Marietta College. I am pursuing a degree in both mathematics and information systems with a certificate in leadership studies. I participated in a program known as the EXCEL (Experience Civil Engagement and Leadership) workshop, which taught me valuable  leadership, social, and civil skills to use in my leadership classes and outside of the classroom. In the fall of 2014, when the new leadership students arrive at Marietta College, I will be a leader in the EXCEL workshop. This means that I will be leading these students through the workshop and helping them to gain the same valuable skills I did. Prior to my experience in EXCEL, I had an internship of the summer (2013) with a program called Camp Invention. You can read about my experiences there on my Internship page.

Rowing

When I arrived at Marietta College, I decided I wanted to try something new, and found a new activity that I love. I joined the Marietta Rowing Team in the fall and have loved the sport ever since. I have my butt off in hopes of ridding myself of my ‘novice’ title in the near future. You can explore my experiences as a rower further in my rowing gallery.

In the future, I aspire to be a programmer for a big computing company. With my skills in leadership, I hope to work my way up to a management position of sorts. However, my love of computers can only be rivaled by my affection for numbers. I would also love to acquire a position that would allow me to complete computations as well. I am a valuable worker who doesn’t quit until something is done correctly. If you wish to know more about me, please look at my resume, sample works, and information page on community service.
